Van Nuys Middle School & STEAM Magnet Home

About Us

Van Nuys Middle School is a small school nestled in a quiet neighborhood of Sherman Oaks, CA. We have about 800 students, including two small learning communities (SLC). Our first SLC is our School for Advanced Studies (SAS) named The Valley Environmental Academy for our Gifted and Talented (GATE) students. All our resident students who qualify as identified or verified GATE are welcome to attend. Our second SLC is our STEAM Magnet, which focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. The elective pathway for our STEAM Magnet includes coding and robotics. All students benefit from the many supports and programs we bring to our school including a full-time counseling office, health office, technology support, tutoring, intervention, academic coaching support, field trips, after-school programs, social-emotional support, lunch-time clubs, library,  and electives.

Our Mission

Each student can and will succeed in our college-going culture.
